This morning I told Gary, "Go into the living room. Look in the piano bench and there's a blank cassette tape. Bring it to me."
He brought me a roll of Scotch Tape from Randy's desk. The only part of the directions he got right was, "Go into the living room." Aren't they supposed to be able to follow multi-step directions by now?

OMG!!! Same battle at our house!! You should just be glad he came back with something I guess!! Mine always come back empty hand declaring they couldn't find whatever it was they were looking for!! I have honestly thought about having their eyes checked!! LOL Maybe it is just boys in general -- Chance has the same problem -- LOL
You're probably right, Beth. I should be glad he came back at all! Ordinarily, I'll send him for something then find him 3 minutes later, playing with something, having totally forgotten that I'd ever even made a request!!!
You should be thankful he even MOVED!!!
I know what you mean, my 40 year old child is the EXACT same way!! ;)
Gary did two things you asked! He went to the Living room and brought you the tape. That's not bad for a busy fellow who didn't need tape or a trip to the living room.
Hey Annie! You always have the best stories. Payton also finds something else to do on his way to get whatever it is I asked for. Honestly, so does Todd. That apple doesn't fall far from the tree! Have a good week.
To: "Anonymous" You might suffer from the same "issues" that Gary does b/c I asked him to bring me a cassette tape from the piano bench, not scotch tape from the desk AND you forgot to sign your name which automatically lables you a stalker - Identify yourself already!

Passive agressive control working it's magic again. Seems to me I remember a little girl who was very much like Gary, except that she wouldn't have come back at all. When I finally gave up and went looking for her, I usually found her completely engrossed in something else and she had totally forgotten what I had asked her to do. For a long time your middle name was "I forgot".

Ok lets give him the benefit of the doubt here. He's what 8? Do you really think he knows what a cassette tape is???
