Double Diamond Bunny Slopes

Randy figured out that the landing was much softer if you headed OFF the trail to the unpacked powder (about 3' deep) whilst giving new meaning to the term "snowman"Lunch on the mountain at TenMile Station

Our condo was at Snowflake lift making slope access instant.

Taking a break at the bottom before heading back up to Four-o'clock Run.

Mike (snowboard), Robin (Red), Jermey (grey), & Amanda (blue) at Tenmile again, on the mountain between Upper and Lower Lehman trails.

We spent one evening in town shopping.

We're baaaaaaacckkk!

I'm SO glad to be back to reality. Gary and I have had the flu since Friday and for the first time in days, feel almost normal. At one point, we would have gladly thrown the towel in (if we'd had the energy raise a finger) and let the flu claim it's victory over us. Thankfully, Tamiflu brought us through and the sun is finally shining in our house again. Gary and I are getting back to our usual early morning rush rush routine tomorrow. At last count, over half his class was absent last Friday with flu symptoms. I just thought I was doing myself a favor by sleeping with Gary last week to avoid Randy's cold. I would much rather have had the cold!

Please bear with our background. I don't have much opportunity to capture him sitting still! Press the little triangle play "button" at the bottom left corner of EACH video clip.

more school humor...kinda

Gary finally made it to the 50 point club WOO HOO!! Which essentially means that he's read and passed tests on about 100 books this school year. His reward was a pair of shoes he's had his eye on. On our way home from the mall last night, we were talking about his upcoming spelling test and other school related things. I asked him, "What is TOPS?" I had seen this on his class schedule from 8-8:30 a.m. He said, "Yea, what do you want to know?" So I repeated, "What is tops?" He explained that "Tops is a place where daddy likes to go and they sell trailers that you pull behind your truck and there's another tops next door that sells old timey clothes..like they wear in the desert..you know, horse clothes." About the time he finished, we passed Tops and he read the sign to me very patiently, "Tops Western World. There it is mom!" He was so confident with his explanation, I didn't have the heart to tell him what I was really talking about.

Schoolhouse Rock

Unfortunately for Gary, his teacher is a very good friend of mine so I usually know everything he's done before he gets home from school each day. This morning, she kept me entertained thanks to Gary's crazy little mind!

Okay, I’ve got to share this! Gary’s group during centers were making these flip charts of words that ended with –ful (meaning they were a word alone before adding the ending—wonderful, helpful, yadda, yadda). Gary brought me his chart and I couldn’t understand what he was writing…it said “rifule”…I said “rightful???” He said, “no, you know, a rifle!” too funny!

Gary asked me to tell you he got into the 50 pt. club this morning, so you wouldn’t think he was lying when he told you :-)…that’s hilarious!

Greetings from Peak 8

We've just completed our first day of skiing at Breckenridge, Colorado. I don't have any photos to share yet (didn't try to manage the camera at ski school.) A small group of us girls spent the entire day with an instructor and are ready to hit the slopes with the men (who decided to make their own ski school) tomorrow. No injuries to speak of as of now, but Amanda was pretty entertaining sliding backwards down the slope towards a tree line as she attempted to recover from a previous fall. I finally understand the "dry cold" I've heard so much about. By 2:00, it was about 32 degrees and we started shedding clothes. Our front porch has about 3 feet of snow on it. Too bad I can't bring some home to the kids :-( More to come tomorrow or Saturday.....
